Anybody know about tractor trailers and how they have to be plugged in in the winter to heat the oil pan?
I am looking for any information about how the tractor part of a tractor-trailer has to be plugged into an electrical outlet to keep the oil pan heated. Most importantly I am trying to figure out how much kwh usage this takes on average. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Compression combustion engines (diesels) require heat(glow plugs) to start the combustion process. Any help with heating the block(coolant) makes starting in the cold easier. An oil pan heater only helps heat the oil, which is good because the oil flows better and prevents friction. This has nothing to do with helping start the vehicle.

Fordson Tractor $95.59 Fordson was a brand name used on a range of mass produced allpurpose tractors manufactured by Henry Ford and Son from 1917 until 1920 when it was merged into the Ford Motor Company, which used the name until 1964.
