I have just put a new head on my perkins 236 u motor and it will not start?
The head gasket failed due to over heating. the head has been machined and a new head gasket was installed. all parts are back in their correct positions. I have bled the diesel system and air intake is clear. The motor turns over and diesel smoke is coming out of the exhaust, but it will not fire. The valve settings are still the same as before the head was machined, do I need to loosen them off? Can anyone help me with some wisdom as to why it will not fire? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards Sid
the way it sounds to me…..you need to reset your valves…..you may only be “smokin” on one or two clyinders. giving a false sence that its firing………adjust the valves and try again.
