My wife and I would like to emigrate to canada in a couple of years??? Any pointers?

Hi,

My wife and I are looking into emigrating into Canada from The US. We both don’t have any college education. I work for a cold storage facility in the States and I’m a skilled Reach Truck, Fork Lift and Pallet Truck Operator.

We’re looking to emigrate to Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal or Calgary.

Any pointers like where I can find info on how to emigrate to Canada, what average wage would I be expecting to get, cost of rent for apartments per month for a two bedroom apartment, and how much cost of living is Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal or Calgary?

My wife is Filipina and I’m of Scandinavian Ancestry. I’m used to living in a rich and ethnically diverse environment and I like it. I just want FREE UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE for my DAUGHTER and WIFE.

I voted for Barack, but I don’t think that the states are ever going to adopt FREE UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE. It’s all about who can buy who off in the States.

Like someone pointed out above, our healthcare is universal, but it is not free, unless you make less than about $14,000 a year. And I wouldn’t try living in any of the above cities and trying to support a family on that. If you make more that the minimum, you still have to pay premiums, which are about $50/month for a single person.
To be honest, a 2 bed apartment in Victoria (where I live) is about $900 to $1000 /month (if you’re lucky). I’m fairly sure that the cities you’ve mentioned are more expensive than here. I know Van is.
I’d really look into our immigration laws before you get your hopes up too high. I’m fairly sure you need some kind of skill that is unavailable to our population in order to get a work permit here. We’re having trouble with unemployment here as well, so that may be something to consider.
