How do I economically keep my outside fuel oil tank heated in the cold weather?
Each year when it gets extremely cold, my outside fuel tank slows to a crawl due to the cold weather. How can I “heat” up the oil safely, so it flows smoothly?
You are burning #2 range oil right? Have it filled every other time with kerosene. Of course don’t let it run down to nothing either way. Kerosene doesn’t gel up like range oil does in cold weather. Up north here we do this both at home and in diesel trucks. Some stations even pre-mix at the pump and call it arctic diesel. Kerosene also burns cleaner but costs more per gallon . So every other top off use it.
