Can you boys teach me?
?
Hey =]
So i’m here because I want to know about cars. I’m a seventeen year old female that wouldn’t know the difference between a radiator and a battery. My question to you is, can you give me a run down car 101 lesson on how they operate, the different types and basic models available and the things I should look at learning for the different types – for example, what they’re worth, top speed 0-100kms (or miles for americans), the number of cylinders type of thing. I bought my first car magazine the other day…but it was a bit confusing to understand their termonology. Do you have any links that can teach me this stuff, or can you? Females are welcome to answer of course
Thanks!
billrang: Thank you for your answer, but no… these classes are not in highschool in Australia. I have also finished school as of November.
I love girls who want to know about cars. Here it is:
1. Cars operate on gas engines of all different sizes, measured most commonly in number of cylinders. The most common engines either have 4, 6, or 8 cylinders. There are 3-cylinder cars, and also 10 and 12. (this is where you hear the term V6 or V8). Naturally, the more cylinders, the larger the engine and the more the power.
2. A battery is used for the initial start-up of the vehicle, when you put the key in and crank it. After that, the alternator provides your power and also charges the battery. The alternator generates electricity to power all of the vehicle’s electrical components.
3. A radiator is a thin, rectangular device located in front of the engine which cools the engine and keeps it from overheating.
4. Basic vehicle makes are Ford, General Motors, Dodge, Toyota, BMW, Mazda, and so on.
5. Your average everyday car will probably have a top speed of 100-120 miles per hour.
6. An average brand new car you could expect to pay $20,000-30,000, though it varies greatly because there are thousands of cars to choose from.
7.Old beater cars you can buy for about $300.
Hope this helps. I could explain tons more but this should give you a good start.
