Self assembly tractors ?
You must have seen these tractors that you buy new in a box and build them up yourself – they cost around £4000.
My friend is considering buying one to do the yard work – pulling muck trailers, loading, chain harrowing, hay cutting etc.
Does anyone have experience with them – are they really good or would we be better sticking with something like a Fordson Major ( current tractor ) ?
If you have a major why go for the hassle of a kit tractor. Basically £4000 is one heck of a lot of repairs you can spend on the tractor you already have. They go for yrs and yrs if properly maintained and £4000 is very cheap for a new tractor…possibly too cheap if you see what I mean.

Harrow (Tool) $79.66 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles In agriculture, a set of harrows is an implement for cultivating the surface of the soil. In this way it is distinct in its effect from the plough, which is used for deeper cultivation. Harrowing is often carried out on fields to follow the rough finish left by ploughing operations. The purpose of this harrowing is generally to break up clods and lumps of soil and to provide a finer finish, a good tilth or soil structure that is suitable for seeding and planting operations. Such coarser harrowing may also be used to remove weeds and to cover seed after sowing. Tools for harrowing are commonly called harrows as they are used as a set. There are nominally three types of harrows: disc harrow, tine harrow and chain harrow. Harrows were originally horsedrawn. In modern practice they are almost always tractormounted implements, either trailed after the tractor or mounted on the threepoint hitch. Drag Harrow $70.1 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A drag harrow is a largely outdated type of soil cultivation implement that is used to smooth the ground as well as loosen it after it has been plowed and packed. It uses many flexible iron teeth usually arranged into three rows. It has no hydraulic functionality and has to be raised/adjusted with one or multiple manual levers. It is a largely outdated piece of farm equipment, having been replaced by more modern disc harrows and deeper, stifftoothed rippers.
